Perfection is the Enemy of Resilience

A frog's internal journey through imperfection to a future filled with love and resilience

Hello Froggy Family!

Sometimes our body reacts negatively to the things we want and desire greatly. This happens to me often in my artistic journey, almost every time I want to grow. With growth, comes new waves of survival fears, old shame and judgement, and guilt to my past self that I didn't change quicker.

In these moments of anxiety, perceived danger, and even real harm, I try to remind myself that this is something completely new to my nervous system!

Of course I do not know what to do! Of course I am feeling fear! Of course I need more self care and compassion during periods of growth!

This is not something many of us are taught, how to do something new. Many of our families of origin have been stuck in survival fears for generations. Changing patterns for an entire family is hard, changing patterns in yourself is hard. Choosing something different is hard!

This does NOT mean choosing something new is NOT worth it! Doing difficult things to better yourself and the planet is worth it. Fighting our own survival fears to create something new is worth it. Even when it isn't perfect. Even when we make mistakes.

Perfection is the enemy of resilience. I learned this statement from a youtube channel called "struthless", and this mantra has kept me moving forward into the new, without being afraid of making mistakes. Resilience is doing new things without being perfect, and continuing anyway.

Resilience is hard. But worth it.

Love you all! Sunflower the curious little frog
